Covid-19: Working/Leave Arrangements

Teachers & Special Needs Assistants:
Covid-19 Special Leave with Pay is available to a teacher or a Special Needs Assistant who:
Begins to display Covid-19 symptoms
Receives a positive Covid-19 PCR/antigen test result
CL 38/2022 is still relevant and has been amended by Information Note TC/IN 0004/2023 ‘changes to Special Leave with Pay from 22nd May 2023 for teachers and SNAs’ – from that date, the maximum Sick Leave with Pay entitlement is 5 consecutive days in any one instance.
Clerical Officers & Caretakers employed in Department approved posts:
From 22nd May 2023, where an employee begins to display COVID-19 symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19, a maximum limit of 5 consecutive days Special Leave with Pay (includes weekends/school closures), in any one instance, will apply.
Where the employee is medically unfit for work after the 5 consecutive days, the terms and conditions of the Sick Leave Scheme will apply. See Information Note ESR/0001/2023.
