ACCS/Info Bulletin 14/19

Re: ACCS New Dignity at Work Policy

ACCS has developed a new Dignity at Work Policy for dealing with complaints of bullying, harassment and sexual harassment in the workplace. This Policy has been written and agreed by ACCS and the unions representing staff in community and comprehensive schools, including ASTI, TUI and FORSA.

This Policy replaces the:

  • Code of Practice for dealing with complaints of bullying and harassment of staff in community and comprehensive schools and

  • Code of Practice for dealing with complaints of sexual harassment of staff in community and comprehensive schools

This Policy is compliant with the relevant legislation and Codes of Practice and it applies to all new complaints whether informal or formal from March 2019.

ACCS recommends that:

  • This Policy should be considered and ratified at the next meeting of the Board of Management. The ratification should be recorded in the minutes of the Board meeting.

  • The Policy should then be communicated to all staff and other persons engaged in the provision of goods and services to the school.

  • Schools appoint Contact Persons in the coming week. Three/Four Contact Persons should be appointed in each school representing both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Please find attached:

ACCS will provide training for both Contact and Designated Persons in due course.

Is mise,
