Re: Admission Policy
The Department of Education has informed the management bodies of schools of the intention of the Minister to commence additional sections of the Education (Admission to Schools) Act 2018 on 1st February 2020. This means that school Boards of Management, having consulted with school staff, the school patron and with parents of children attending the school, will have 3 months to complete and forward a draft Admission Policy to the Patrons for their approval. The new Admission Policy cannot be adopted prior to September 2020 and will apply for admissions from the commencement of the 2021/22 academic year.
ACCS, the other school management bodies, representatives of the Patrons and representatives of the national parent bodies are engaged with the Department developing:

ACCS advises all Boards preparatory work can commence immediately and drafting of a revised Admission Policy should be on all Board of Management Agenda.
ACCS will revert to Boards with any updates and materials as they become available.
