The Association of Community & Comprehensive Schools (ACCS) is the professional management body which supports, advises, and represents community & comprehensive schools on all matters relating to school management.
Clerical Officer – Garda Vetting & Accounts:
The organisation is now seeking a Clerical Officer – Garda Vetting & Accounts to join the Administration team. It is a full-time role based at the ACCS Head Office at 10H Centrepoint Business Park, Oak Drive, Dublin 12, with access to remote working for one day per week.

THE ROLE
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling various clerical tasks related to garda vetting and accounts processes, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities:
Perform the role of Liaison Person as detailed by the National Vetting Bureau in its Code for Practice - Garda Vetting (full training will be provided).
Manage all garda vetting applications and disclosures on behalf of ACCS as the registered organisation for the processing of applications for all non-teaching employees/volunteers/others in community & comprehensive schools.
Deal with queries from schools and vetting applicants in relation to the garda vetting process. Manage the garda vetting inbox and monitor and respond to all queries on e-mail and by phone.
Provide information to schools in relation to garda vetting policy/procedures, as necessary. Build relationships and communicate effectively with key stakeholders involved in the vetting process in schools (TY co-ordinators, school personnel, parents, garda vetting applicants and the National Vetting Bureau).
Maintain files and documentation in an orderly organised and secure manner, with access strictly controlled.
Prepare monthly and annual accounts for the Association (invoices, receipts, member subscriptions, online payments, posting bank transactions, cheques, customer statements etc.).
Administration of weekly and monthly payroll and liaise with the payroll service provider.
Prepare accounts documentation for executive meetings, the end of year audit and grant funding returns.
Provide administrative support to ACCS’ Further Education Support Unit and ACCS’ Building Unit, in processing accounts and returns to the Department of Education.
Maintain accurate financial records and databases.
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
Liaise with schools and suppliers regarding account queries in an efficient and courteous manner.
Attend ACCS’s two annual conferences and assist colleagues with registration, exhibitors, and other duties.
Any other duties or projects as determined by the Senior Administrator or General Secretary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required for the role:
Relevant experience (1-3 years) in an accounts or administrative role.
Knowledge and experience of accounts/financial software package(s) essential.
Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion.
Well organised with experience in developing efficient administrative systems.
Good interpersonal skills are essential as the person appointed will be communicating with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise effectively.
The role includes a statutory element as Authorised Signatory (Liaison Person).
Garda Vetting will apply in respect of this position. It is a condition of this role that the successful applicant must complete a Garda vetting application in order to be sanctioned and approved for access to the National Vetting Bureau System by An Garda Síochána National Vetting Bureau.
Hours of Work:
The normal working week will be Monday to Friday with normal working hours from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (exclusive of breaks)., but flexibility may be required from time to time.
Salary:
The salary will be aligned to the Clerical Officer Grade III salary scale (education sector) and ranges from €29,311 - €46,446 (inclusive of one long service increment) for a 35-hour working week. The starting point will be commensurate with experience.

Location:
The successful candidate will be based at ACCS Head Office, 10H Centrepoint Business Park, Oak Drive, Dublin 12, with the ability to avail of working remotely for one day per week.
The ACCS office is accessible via public transport but more conveniently by car.
