ACCS Schools among the winners at Junk Kouture 2021
It was another award laden night for ACCS Schools at the final of Junk Kouture 2021 with three of the main awards being taken home by Community Schools.
Moate Community School were victorious in the West Region, with Lucy Mitchell taking the award, and an LSAD bursary, for ‘Jeaneology’ - created from old denim jeans, curtain cord, beads, old pearl earrings, metal zips and buttons.
That wasn’t the end of the awards for Moate. ‘Netiquette’, created by Joyce Conway, Cora Farrell and Áine Maxwell, won the Glamour Award. Their design is made from clear plastic sheeting, wool, used plastic netting recycled from a garden center and plastic bags.
Mountrath Community School completed the trifecta of triumphs for ACCS Schools when ‘Alarming Twists’, made by Ellen Rowny, Fial Dalton, and Chloe Cross, took the Enterprise Award for the County Laois school. ‘Alarming Twists’ is made from old alarm cables and wires, plastic bottles and plastic bags.
