ACCS CPD: Invitation to Participate in ICT Coordinators' Webinar, Tuesday 21st September from 4.00p.m. to 5.15p.m
Dear Secretary,
The ACCS ICT Sub-Committee wishes to explore how it can best support the work being carried out in ICT and Technology Enhanced Learning Initiatives in Community and Comprehensive schools. The current Digital Strategy for schools is being reshaped into a new strategy and ACCS has contributed to the consultation process towards developing the new cycle.
The main objective of the 2015-2020 strategy was to embed technology and digital learning tools in schools which would in turn greatly enhance the learning experience and lifelong learning skills of all our students.
The Department’s vision for ICT integration in Irish schools was set out as:
“Realise the potential of digital technologies to enhance teaching, learning and assessment so that Ireland’s young people become engaged thinkers, active learners, knowledge constructors and global citizens to participate fully in society and the economy.”
The 2015-2020 Strategy was developed around four key themes:
Theme 1: Teaching, Learning and Assessment Using ICT
Theme 2: Teacher Professional Learning
Theme 3: Leadership, Research and Policy
Theme 4: ICT Infrastructure
As we commence a new school year during which the new Digital Strategy will be published, the ICT Sub-Committee is interested in establishing the following in the context of the Digital Strategy which has been in place for the past five years:
1. What is working well in our schools?
2. What are the challenges in schools re ICT currently?
3. How can ACCS assist schools in relation to supporting their work in embedding ICT?
Who Should Attend? Principals, Deputy Principals and ICT Coordinators.
Schools are invited to nominate their ICT Coordinator to attend a webinar on Tuesday 21st September from 4.00p.m. - 5.15p.m.
