This webinar provides participants with an understanding of the updated competency-based approach to the appointment of a Principal or Deputy Principal and will explore the Appeal System for permanent Principal and Deputy Principal appointments (Circular Letter 0062/2021).
This event will prepare Boards of Management and those nominated to selection committees for the recruitment and selection process. It will provide an understanding of the role of the Board of Management and the selection committee in the process. The contents will focus on the key aspects of the recruitment & selection process including advertising, competencies and the use of behavioural indicators, shortlisting, questioning at interview, evaluating the evidence, confidentiality and record keeping. It will also deal with the implications of the appeal system on the appointment process.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Selection Committee Members, Trustee Nominees, Principal(s) and Chairperson, Board of Management. This PLP will be of particular interest to schools who may have an upcoming vacancy for a Principal or Deputy Principal. Newly appointed Principals, who have not already attended Competency Interview Training may also find this In-Service beneficial.
