The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) and Junior Cycle for Teachers (JCT) are partners with four other countries in an Erasmus Plus project titled, Student Voice - the Bridge to learning. Ireland is hosting an International conference on Wednesday, 13th December in Dublin Castle.
At the conference they are planning to share examples of student voice practice and to provide an opportunity for the key stakeholders working with and supporting young people to move towards an agreed understanding and definition of student voice. They have kindly offered a number of places for our schools for the Principal/Deputy and/or a member of staff interested in promoting and championing this area in school.
This exciting project goes well beyond the Student Council and aims to build a culture of authentic listening to students in our schools. For the schools involved in the project with the NCCA it has been a really worthwhile exercise and I believe that it would be very useful for schools to attend the conference to see where "voice in the classroom" is at currently.
Please let me know in the week after midterm if you or/and a colleague would be interested in attending and places will be offered on a first come, first served basis. (See email address below)
In the meantime, I hope you all have an enjoyable and restful break next week.
