ACCS Information Note

The SEC is severely constrained in the supply of examiners to mark the written examinations this summer. In light of the supply issue it has made a recent urgent appeal to teachers to apply to mark the written exams. The full text of the appeal as it appears on the SEC’s website is provided below for your information.

In light of a shortage of applicants to mark the summer examinations this year, the State Examinations Commission is making an urgent appeal to teachers, including recently qualified and retired teachers, to apply to mark the 2017 Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate examinations. Full details of this appeal is available on the SEC’s website here https://www.examinations.ie/?l=en&mc=re&sc=lwe

Teachers engaging in examinations marking are the lifeblood of the examinations system.

ACCS encourages our principals to make a direct appeal to teachers in your school to apply to mark the written examinations. As well as experienced teachers, the SEC is also encouraging new and more recently qualified teachers to apply in order to benefit their teaching practice and their experience of national assessment.
